The guide is part of the Muslim civil rights organization’s anti-bullying campaign and is designed to combat bullying and to help create a more welcoming atmosphere for Muslim students in Ohio’s school districts. “This guide is intended to help teachers, administrators and educational staff understand the needs of their Muslim students and families. We believe that education is the most important part of a young person’s life, and we want to help facilitate healthy and supportive classrooms for all students,” said Jennifer Nimer, CAIR-Columbus executive director.

Call for Papers: Muslim American Experiences Then and Now
Audience: High School Students enrolled in 11th or 12th grade

Purpose:
1) To encourage original ideas and critical thinking around topics of related to American Muslim history and contemporary experiences.
2) To demonstrate college readiness, research skills, analysis, and presentation skills,
3) To receive authentic feedback from university faculty and to present student research in a university setting.

Provides teachers with methodological approaches to addressing religion.

This report is co-sponsored by the University of California, Berkeley’s Center for Race and Gender and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The Center for Race and Gender is responsible for the special sections on Park 51 and the 2010 election. CAIR is responsible for all other material in the report. Islamic Africa is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary, academic journal published by Northwestern University Press in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of Islamic Thought in Africa (ISITA), based at Northwestern University, Evanston. The journal incorporates Sudanic Africa, retaining its focus on historical sources, bibliographies, and methodologies. Islamic Africa promotes interaction between scholars of Islam and Africa across all continents and across historical periods.
