Come join us for CSID's 19th Annual Conference: Authoritarianism and Democratic Decline in the Age of Sectarianism and Populism. The conference will feature keynote speaker Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) (invited) as well as numerous panel sessions including Egypt and the Contradictions of Liberalism, Piety or Politics? Interpreting the Iran-Saudi Rivalry and the Rise of Sectarianism, Challenges to Democratic Consolidation in Tunisia, U.S. foreign policy, Neoliberalism, and the Pact Theory, and Islamic Politics, Populism, and Coalition Building.
Global crises are rising and getting worse, and there is a shortage of people to work in the field of humanitarian aid and disaster relief. La Roche College’s Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training Program offers the chance to learn about working in these fields through an intense five-day workshop.
With local and global experts, real-world simulation experiences and interactive classes, participants will leave with a strong understanding of key concepts, trends and essential knowledge necessary to succeed in this field on both a domestic and international level.
The objective of this workshop is to facilitate the teaching at the high school level of complex issues such as Colonialism, Nationalism and identity. By offering lectures and hands-on interactive modules which incorporate both maps and facilitated discussions on nationalism and identity the hope is that the teachers will find useful tools that they can incorporate in their teaching. Curricula generated from this workshop will be posted on the PA Department of Education’s SAS portal and tagged as meeting global education goals and skills.

In the past few years, Islamophobia Studies has experienced the arrival of numerous new scholars, researchers, community organizers, journalist and social media contributors to the field. The field has been enriched and challenged by this rapid expansion. Each contributor to the field has set out to provide a working definition for Islamophobia, selection of an academic and research methodology and collecting relevant data to qualify their thesis.
