Panelists will relate the current U.S. use of drone strikes to Christian and Islamic theories of what is just in war and to American constitutional law.
Jules Lobel is a co-author of Less Safe, Less Free: Why America is Losing the War on Terror (2007) and president of the Center for Constitutional Rights. Ronald Stone is the author of Prophetic Realism: Beyond Militarism and Pacifism in an Age of Terror; Susan Hascall teaches and has written several articles about Islamic Law.
The CERIS Curriculum Development Grants Program is designed to enable faculty members from CERIS institutions to pursue curricular development and enhancement projects related to Islamic Studies. Islamic Studies is understood, as expressed in the CERIS mission statement, to encompass many languages, literatures, and disciplines; and extends from the 7th century to the present, and across broad geographical areas of the world.
